You can
learn to dance Northern Soul
“It has always been
assumed that you can or you can’t dance Northern Soul, nobody has
questioned the logic!”
This is
definitely not the case. Dance steps need to broken down to enable
them to be taught and a teacher needs to be able to teach, before a
pupil can gain the confidence to dance, especially when surround by
very practiced dancers that have an innate (natural or
instinctive, rather than learnt or acquired) ability. It can
all be very intimidating for you Northern Soul Fans desperate to
hit the floor to increase your experience with the music you love
so much, it is not important for you to reach the heights of the
accomplished dancer, although it is attainable with
dedication.
Just to
get lost in the music and to express yourself through dance is a
wonderful experience, taught dancing starts as a strict structure
which provides competence and confidence which becomes natural as
the dance steps fuse with your interpretation and
personality.
